Among Us: Airship map
The Airship map in "Among Us" represents an exciting expansion for the game, bringing a host of new features and challenges to the popular multiplayer title. As the largest map in the game, The Airship offers players a fresh and expansive environment inspired by the Toppat Clan's Airship from the game "Henry Stickmin: Infiltrating the Airship."
Key features of The Airship map include:
-
Largest Map: The Airship provides the most extensive playground for Crewmates and Impostors to date, with more tasks and places to explore than any previous map.
-
New Tasks: Crewmates can engage in a variety of new tasks like jewel polishing and trash emptying, adding variety and new experiences to the gameplay.
-
Room Selection: For the first time, players can choose the room in which they start the game, allowing for strategic play and new tactics.
-
New Areas: Seventeen new locations are available to explore, providing new opportunities for deception, strategy, and discovery.
-
Enhanced Mobility: The addition of ladders and moving platforms offers dynamic movement across the map, improving gameplay fluidity and adding an extra layer of strategy.
-
Henry Stickmin Influence: The map and its features are heavily inspired by "The Henry Stickmin Collection," with several nods to the series, including cosmetics and The Airship skin bundle, which fans of the series will appreciate.
The development of The Airship was a significant event for "Among Us," as Innersloth, the game's developers, had initially planned to include this map in the sequel, "Among Us 2." However, the unexpected surge in popularity of the original game led to the cancellation of the sequel, and the decision to instead add new content to the existing game.
Innersloth confirmed the development of The Airship on September 23, 2020, and made a commitment to release it as a free update to ensure all players could enjoy the new content. Further excitement was stirred in the community when Among Us's official Twitter account revealed the Cockpit area of the map on November 18, 2020, featuring characters reminiscent of the Center for Chaos Containment employee and the Right Hand Man Reborn from the "Henry Stickmin" games.
The Airship map release marked a major update for "Among Us," demonstrating Innersloth's dedication to their game and their fans by providing new content and keeping the game's environment engaging and fresh for both new recruits and seasoned players.
