Final Doom: The Plutonia Experiment
"Final Doom – The Plutonia Experiment" is a renowned chapter in the classic "Doom" series, known for its challenging gameplay and engaging storyline. This game continues the narrative from where previous installments left off, focusing on the aftermath of Hell's invasion of Earth and humanity's efforts to prevent future catastrophes.
Storyline:
After the Earth's devastating encounter with Hell's forces, global governments are on high alert. They reform the UAC (Union Aerospace Corporation) with entirely new management, as the previous leaders and stakeholders were casualties of the invasion. The primary goal of the new UAC is to develop technology capable of preventing any further demonic incursions.
The narrative takes a turn when the UAC sets up a base on Io, one of Jupiter's moons, to distance their research from Earth and hopefully reduce the risk of another invasion. However, as shown in TNT: Evilution, this decision doesn't pan out as expected.
UAC scientists begin working on quantum accelerator devices designed to close interdimensional gates, the primary method of demonic entry into our world. During the experiments at a secret research facility guarded by Marines, an unforeseen event occurs. A gate to Hell opens within the complex, unleashing a horde of demons. Fortunately, the quantum accelerator works, closing the gate and halting the invasion.
However, the next day, a larger catastrophe unfolds as seven gates open simultaneously, leading to an overwhelming invasion. The quantum accelerators close six of these gates, but the seventh remains open, and the facility is overrun. With the complex lost and the last gate guarded by a demon Gatekeeper, the situation becomes dire.
Gameplay:
In "The Plutonia Experiment," you play as Doomguy, the series' iconic protagonist. You're tasked with navigating through this overrun facility, fighting off hordes of demons, and ultimately dealing with the demon Gatekeeper to close the final gate.
The game is characterized by its intense action, intricate level design, and challenging enemy encounters. It stays true to the original "Doom" formula while adding its unique twists and challenges.
