Hammer of the Gods
Hammer of the Year is the result of the terrible contribution of New World Computing (between the different series of "Heroes ...") and Holistic Design (after the grand and already Merchant Prince, but long before the grand and the Empire of the Fading Suns ) The shortest description? "Heroes" about the Vikings.
So, choosing one of the four races, one or more players can start a fight for the mercy of the Viking gods and a lifetime in Valhall on the historical map of Europe or on a randomly generated map (for a change - since the historical location of the starting cities is fixed once and for all) while dealing with various Gentiles along the way (they are represented by the Saxons and Crusaders).
Each race has its own Hero and its Special Unit - all the rest are standard. Archer, swordsman, peasant (the latter participate only in the defense of cities) - common to all. Also "common" are magical creatures, which are given out for completing quests received from the gods. Among other things, the gods still share money and artifacts.
In general - as Heroes, but not as Heroes. Elements of RPG, “Ziva” and just a frantic amount of Scandinavian deities are thrown into the game. The tree of divine quests for each race - people, trolls, elves and gnomes - has its own, they intersect only in older deities - those who give tasks like "take out the capital of any other race" or "make peace with all sides or cut them all out." At the output, we get an excellent game for Hot Seat, slightly ruffled by an ill-conceived interface and a terrible love of hanging to death on any experimental computer.
