Night Hunter

Night Hunter is an amazing (not afraid of the word) platform game on the vampire theme.

The king of all vampires, the bloodthirsty Count Dracula, born from the image of the Romanian sadistic prince by the imagination of Bram Stoker, has been disturbing the minds of creative people for more than 100 years. A huge number of "sequel novels", horror films and much more were created to make money on his behalf. Very often, these products were, let's say, not of the best quality. With the advent of games, the toothy count stepped onto the screen of our monitor, however, from the very beginning and to this day it is our worst enemy, our goal is to destroy this fiend of Hell ... But - not this time.

Do you think this name of the game means that we will play for Professor Van Helsing or some kind of dampier (half-man-half-vampire) like Blade? Not at all. Meet: for the first time and only once only under your control on the PC - Count Dracula himself in person! Down with the ideals of good and moral standards! Put an end to the power of vile little people! And may chaos reign on Earth!

To achieve this original goal, our graph (just in case, this is a port with Amiga, so the graph is drawn so cool and looks so funny that the game can not be taken seriously from the very beginning) needs very little: collect six magic medallions that will allow you to step on Era of Chaos.

The gameplay does not look much different from other similar platformers with a side view, but there is something interesting here. Firstly, the count himself. Not only is it strong and fast in itself, it can also (for a vampire after all!) Bite enemies and suck blood from them, replenishing it with a supply of health, and at the same time turn into a bat and a werewolf. The latter is not very pleasant: real vampires do not know how to do this, on the contrary, something like this would have offended them very much (however, something like that would have offended real werewolves even more), but - what is, that is ... Transformations are at least entertaining.

Secondly, a clear, so to speak, “structuredness” of levels and their components. Everything is clear to the smallest detail: 30 game levels, 20 screens on each, on every fifth level - the medallion we need (in total, there are thus six medallions). To complete each level, you need to find eight items: three scrolls and five keys.

Thirdly, the diversity of our opponents. That's where the authors' imagination was played out in earnest! Here are Transylvanian peasants and knights, and all kinds of cemetery monsters (oddly enough), and priests with crosses and holy water, and London police, and some huge birds, and, of course, the valiant Professor Van Helsing with his detachment. But the worst enemy is dawn. If before the moment of sunrise (there is a special timer that shows the time), we do not find a dark place where you can sleep, we will die.

Finally, one cannot fail to note the variety of gaming locations (though for the most part these are premises), as well as the general beauty of the graphics of the game. It is recommended to all lovers of good old arcades, the main thing is not to take the game seriously. This is just a fun platformer, no more.
