Tetris Classic
The Tetris Classic game was released 6 years after the birth of the great opus of Alexei Pajitnov. Having modern (at that time) technology and the time-tested concept of Tetris in their hands, the developers of this game (Spectrum Holobyte) had to make a worthy reprint of the classics. And in principle, they succeeded.
The rules of the game remained inviolable: we still have to fill the capacity, in common with the common people called "glass", with blocks of various shapes. Blocks can be rotated to make it easier to attach to the current structure. If at any height we manage to make a continuous horizontal line of blocks, it will immediately be erased, and we will get points. This is the sacred meaning of the game: build and break, break and build.
In addition to the classic single player, Tetris Classic has several game modes for two people:
Cooperative Mode - we build and erase blocks together with a friend in one wide “glass”. Each player has his own block, which he controls. The more harmonious and friendly the team is, the better the construction will be.
Competitive Mode - the essence of the game is that you need to complete the construction of the next line earlier than your opponent. The one who erases the lines in this game, he gets points. Each of the players has his own block, which he can unwrap and move.
Dual Pit Mode - both players have their own “glass”, so in this mode everything is much calmer - everyone fills his “glass” as he wants.
The game has a lot of settings (which is at least worth the opportunity to play the game with just one mouse!) And a convenient system of "hot keys". Games against the computer is not provided.
Very pleased with the design of the game: the developers decided to abandon the "traditional cranberry" Russian color (bears with balalaikas, formidable broad-shouldered Soviet officers, and towering over all of the Kremlin) and added to the game a lot of beautiful pictures on Russian fairy tales. Thanks to the VGA graphics, the game is nice to watch even now, after so many years.
There is also MIDI music. Not bad In the screensaver it was nice to hear a fragment of the overture from the opera “Ruslan and Lyudmila” by Mikhail Ivanovich Glinka. But I did not hear the familiar melodies in the game itself.
Summary. Good reprint of the famous game. Tetris Classic leaves a pleasant impression of itself.
