Ultima 6: The False Prophet
At one time, this game was a real revolution in the RPG genre. The first game in the Ultima series using VGA graphics, having a much more user-friendly interface and partially using a mouse.
An avatar, peacefully living in his home in our world, sees a portal opening that calls him. But this time it is not blue, but blood red. Having entered it, our hero is surrounded by hostile demons, ready to sacrifice him on his altar. And only true friends, familiar from previous parts of the series, save him from the clutches of monsters. Avatar learns that winged gargoyles have appeared in Britain, bringing death and destruction. They have already managed to capture the temples of the eight virtues and are clearly trying to find something. Avatar and his faithful companions have a difficult task to understand what the invaders want and how to stop them.
The merits of the game are indisputable. Quite decent graphics compensates for a rather complicated interface. But the plot of the game, which does not divide the world into an unambiguous Good and Evil, but poses difficult questions for the player is really amazing.
Gameplay is quite consistent with a great storyline. An excellent dialogue system and combat system could become a benchmark for RPGs, but, unfortunately, for most people they turned out to be overly complicated to master, despite the fact that the developers did their best to simplify them without losing their functionality.
Indeed, the pearl of the Ultima series, surpassed only by the seventh part.
